Boise Metro Chamber, Boise Regional Realtors, & Idaho Associated General Contractors Endorse Bond Campaign to Improve Schools

February 8, 2017

BOISE, IDAHO – Friends of Boise Schools announce today the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce, Boise Regional REALTORS®, and Idaho Associated General Contractors (AGC) endorse the Boise School District bond campaign to reinvest in every neighborhood school in Boise without raising the tax rate. The ballot measure goes before voters March 14, 2017.

“The Boise Metro Chamber supports the Boise School District’s March school bond election,” said Bill Connors, President & CEO, Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce.

“The Chamber understands the importance of providing the Boise School District with adequate resources to ensure that the District continues to produce well-educated children that will comprise Idaho’s future workforce. This bond will allow the District to update aging school buildings with modern and appropriate facilities and remain as one of the top-performing Districts in the state.”

“Boise Regional REALTORS® understands the importance of ensuring schools have the funds necessary to maintain and build great facilities. Not only does it provide better learning environments for students, but it makes our community’s schools more desirable to families considering a move to the Boise region. Therefore, we support the bond initiative from the Boise School District,” said Katrina Wehr, 2017 President of Boise Regional REALTORS® and Managing Broker for Keller Williams Realty Boise.

“Idaho AGC and its member contractors are proud supporters of education. Quality education is a strong foundation for the future workforce of Idaho. We support investments in Boise School District’s future infrastructure as well as investments in the vocational training opportunities that this bond will bring Boise students. Voting Yes for Boise Schools is a wise investment for our future,” said Wayne L. Hammon, Chief Executive Officer, Idaho Associated General Contractors.

The bond would put more than $155 million into 22 major capital projects, including building six new schools on their current sites, a new school in the Harris Ranch area, as well as expansion of the District’s Professional-Technical center to offer Electrical, Plumbing and Heating-Air Conditioning job training classes. Every school in the District would also receive additional funding for ongoing maintenance and repairs.
